Meteor showers from 300 cities
A meteor shower is the same event everywhere on Earth and a completely different proposition from one city to the next. The radiant that stands overhead in Shanghai may never leave the horizon in Tirunelveli; a night that is dark for six hours at one latitude is dark for ninety minutes at another. These 300 pages each answer the question for one place, using that city's own coordinates, elevation and time zone.
What is on a city page
Each page works through all twelve tracked showers for that location and ranks them by what you could actually expect to see there, not by their published zenithal rates. For every shower it gives the local peak date, the hours between the end of astronomical twilight and the start of dawn, how high the radiant climbs while it is dark, how much of that window the Moon spoils, and the resulting hourly rate. Where a radiant never rises far enough to matter, the page says so plainly rather than printing a number close to zero.
The 300 cities span 83 countries and 103 distinct time zones, which is the point of covering them individually: time-zone offset, latitude and the date line interact, and a shower peaking at 03:00 UTC lands in a different part of the night — often a different calendar date — in each of them.
Selection is by metropolitan population, largest first, which is why the list is dense in Asia and thin across the Sahara and the Arctic. If your own city is not here, the shower pages carry the same working for any coordinate you supply, and the decision card on the home page resolves your approximate location automatically.

How the grouping works
Cities are filed under the continent their country is conventionally assigned to, which is a navigational choice rather than a geopolitical one. Two countries here straddle a boundary and are placed to match the continent code their city records were imported with: Russia under Europe and Turkey under Asia. City names and coordinates come from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0).
